It remains to be seen if Michael Bay returns as director while lead actor Mark Wahlberg is set to reprise his role. In interview he said, “Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more… you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon.”
As for any other information, more should be revealed in the next couple of weeks.
Paramount Studios are looking to target a release date in 2016 and efforts are on to kick start production as soon as possible. But series producer of the franchise Lorenzo di Bonaventura has said there no concrete plans for the sequel yet.
A few skeptics have observed that the fans interest in the in the film cannot be sustained after 4 films. There was a three year gap between the Dark Moon and the Age of Extinction and the last film still managed to do very well financially. It remains to be seen when the studio will be announcing dates for the upcoming sequel.
