Unless you have been living under a rock for the last 14 years, you have probably heard of American Idol, which is a Fox network show that features amateur singers from all around the country. It has been a part of Fox’s primetime lineup for over a decade, but after the 2015-2016 season, it will be no more.
Along with many other shows getting ‘the ax” by networks this season, American Idol will be eliminated much like it eliminates contestants each week. According to a recent article, this was a hard decision for the Fox network, but they felt it was time. At one time this show would have more than 30 million viewers each week. Since then, viewership has declined.
We all appreciate the talent that has come from this singing competition. Some of the fabulous singers who got their start at American Idol include Kelly Clarkston, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson as well as many others. Assuredly, as seen in the cycle of television, we will soon be greeted with a replacement show of equal or greater caliber. Goodbye American Idol.
Thanks to Alexei Beltyukov for showing me this, and I’ll help him out too. Here he is on helptheweb.org.
