A Morning With Doe Deere

See how a successful and beautiful CEO balances life and work. Doe Deere was born in Izhevsk, Russia. She came to the United States at the age of 17 to pursue her music career. While following her dream in New York city she met her bandmate Mark, who later became her husband. She was always drawn to color and wanted a makeup that would allow her to express her very colorful personality. This was the future and heart of Lime Crime, her unique and colorful make up line that she introduced in 2008.

Doe Deere describes herself as a morning person and her morning routine supports that. She wakes every morning at 8:30 without the assistance of an alarm. She loves mornings, everything from breakfast to taking a few moments to look out at the world and admire the nature around her. She lives in the dry environment of Los Angeles so she always starts her morning with a full glass of water to help her stay hydrated. After lingering for a bit she is ready for some stretching and breakfast. Breakfast typically involves grits, yogurt, or fruit. She also adds in some freshly squeezed juice from the Orange tree in her yard. She doesn’t go into the office until a bit later in the day so the next line of business is to look over her phone for any updates and scan Instagram for new trends. She touches base with her Lime Crime team and answers emails.

Being a successful CEO of a booming make up company you have to look your best when you walk out the door. Doe Deere has her morning routine that involves a little fun as she puts her look together. She turns on the music as she warms up her curling iron. She styles her colorful hair in big soft curls, her usual look. A freshly washed face and an application of moisturizer is next. She applies her foundation and sets her makeup. Lime Crime currently does not have a foundation line but one could be coming very soon. Now onto the fun part, adding the color. She applies blush and lipstick usually in a red or pink shade. Now that she’s all ready, she takes some time to give her two cats some love before leaving the house.

Around noon she is at the office, having lunch, and talking with her team. The meetings start and don’t usually end until 6pm. She enjoys her schedule and seeing her dream come true and inspiring others to make theirs come true. Learn more: http://norcal.news/news/23849-doe-deere-helping-cats-need-through-makeup

Nick Vertucci Is Giving Regular People The Real Estate Investing Advice They Need To Become Extraordinary Investors

Nick Vertucci is a real estate investing expert and the creator of the Nick Vertucci Real Estate Academy (NVREA). At the academy, regular people, everyday, learn how to succeed in the real estate business. From learning how to buy the cheapest real estate to repairing and flipping the real estate for a profit, people that attend the Academy get all of the tools they need to make it on their own. The extra bonus that comes with being a part of the NVREA is that Nick has also ensured that their is a ready made community of people that support each other and continue to learn even after a seminar has taken place.

While Nick Vertucci has made millions from real estate, he wasn’t always so successful or well-off. In fact, when he was 18 years old, he was living in his van and struggling to just get by. Eventually, he learned how to startup his own business and had some success with selling computer parts. The unfortunate thing for him, at the time, was that the Dot Com crash of the early 2000’s occurred, and because he hadn’t ever learned how to plan ahead, he lost his business and was close to broke again.

When Nick Vertucci got invited to a real estate training seminar by a friend, he was skeptical, at first, but decided to go anyway. It was during this seminar that he learned about some of the things he would look into further for himself, afterwards. It took him some years after this, but through his own research, hard work, and trial and error, he figured out a winning system that made him a lot of money. Once he had made a cool $1 million, he decided to give back by teaching other people how to do what he had done.

Wayne and Brenda Epstein are two former students of the NVREA, and they both had plenty of positive news about the seminar. Wayne has worked in construction for a lot of his life, and it has been a dream of his to get into the investing side of real estate. Wayne and his wife, Brenda, both said that they learned a lot during the seminar, and they especially appreciated the bus tour part of the seminar where they received hands-on training. They also talked very positively about the fact that they didn’t just learn about real estate investing but also how to protect their assets and create a diversified portfolio.

Jeffry Schneider: Are Employee Health Programs Worthwhile?

Business owners and managers are always under pressure to keep overhead down. Jeffry Schneider has come to see the value of a company’s investing in a healthy workforce. But it’s hardly a surprise that owners, while happy for any worker who decides to get fit, usually prefer to be shown that value in concrete terms before making a commitment.

It might seem counterintuitive, but most businesses could benefit from implementing an employee health program. At first, such a program might seem like a pleasant but nonessential expense. A manager putting time and money into a program like this could be seen as expressing his or her public-minded benevolence, or maybe expressing affection for his workers, but in either case, devoting attention to something other than the bottom line. It’s an expense – so the story goes – above and beyond what is necessary. Why not buy each employee a solid-gold Cadillac while we’re at it?

In fact, the health of one’s workforce is a very bottom-line consideration. Human Resources directors spend a lot of time anguishing over absenteeism and retention. The employee who misses work because he or she was susceptible to that year’s flu isn’t doing your company any good. The cost of these absences is high, least of all in terms of short-term productivity. As a few days stretch into weeks, employee’s compensation and healthcare expenses lay in wait. Most managers will tell you that absenteeism itself tends to be contagious, just like the flu. Once a few sick employees start calling out, the occasional healthy employee will feel emboldened to (cough, cough!) start “showing symptoms,” too – you’ve probably done this yourself.

Preemptive efforts to make your workforce healthy are a good way to nip all this in the bud. At least one survey suggests that the impact is perfectly measurable: overweight employees represent annual losses to their employers. Further, bad health habits among your employees hurt them as well as the business. Whatever an employer can do to inspire a healthy lifestyle will improve their employees lives, and it will benefit the business since regular exercise and a healthy diet alone reduce absenteeism. It’s a true “win-win scenario.”

There are any number of concrete actions you can take that can make a big cumulative difference company-wide. One of them is to replace the sugary sodas and candies in the vending machine with at least a few healthier break-time snack alternatives. Start with a few modest steps. Too much coffee isn’t good for us, but even workers strung out on coffee will be healthier than workers strung out on soda, especially if you hide the sugar. Provide a refrigerator and microwave, encouraging workers to bring in their own brown-bag lunches. These are usually healthier than what’s available in the vending machine, or the fast food place across the street.

Encourage gym membership by offering them to workers at discount. Provide adequate, and flexible, break time during the workday. Offer paid time off. Those interested in championing their employee’s health more eagerly can equip the office with adjustable standing desks. Much damage is done simply by sitting hour after hour on the job. Equipping the office with standing desks would certainly be a notable expense, but it should reduce absenteeism, enhance retention, and it might even prove to boost recruitment.

More owners and managers are beginning to share Jeffry Schneider’s enthusiasm for companies making these efforts to improve employee’s health and fitness. And why not?

It’s all right there in the bottom line.

Personalized Cancer Care Becomes a Reality With Tempus, CancerLinQ and Precision HealthAI Deal

Eric Lefkofsky’s company is about to make personalized cancer treatment a reality. As the CEO of Tempus, Lefkofsky has spearheaded an initiative that uses big data to personalize different types of cancer treatment. Tempus is a technology company that recently started a deal with Precision HealthAI and CancerLinQ to structure data.

Currently, the CancerLinQ database includes one million records from patients. Precision HealthAI and Tempus will help CancerLinQ analyze their database more efficiently and more quickly than they were previously able to.

In an interview, Tempus CEO Eric Lefkofsky discussed the coming deal. CancerLinQ originally formed by ASCO to address the growing amounts of data that were coming from patient records. Previously, all of this data was locked away in electronic medical records. Now, these records could be used to create new techniques for dealing with different patients. CancerLinQ sought out experienced companies like Tempus to help them analyze the data.

The new analysis will help biotech companies de-identify the data so that it can help companies research and develop new drugs. The data can be used to create better clinical trials and to help oncologists in their practice.

After narrowing the field of applicants, Precision HealthAI and Tempus were chosen because they could commercialize, cleanse and analyze the data. The two companies will complement each other as they work toward the shared goal. At Precision HealthAI, the AI platform will be used to compile, manage and utilize the clinical data. Researchers will be able to effectively analyze the different datasets. Meanwhile, Tempus will create unique datasets by combining molecular and clinical data. This innovative development will allow personalized cancer care to become a reality.

Tempus was founded by Eric Lefkofsky in 2015. While Lefkofsky never planned on working in healthcare, his entire life changed after a close friend was treated for cancer. He noticed how little data and technology were used in the clinical practice. After realizing a need for new technology, Lefkofsky decided to form Tempus. He had spent his entire professional life as a technology entrepreneur. Previously, he co-founded Groupon in 2008 and still serves as the chairman. Over the years, he has founded tech innovators like Echo Global Logistics, Uptake and Innerworkings. Currently, all of these businesses are based in Chicago. With his wife, Lefkofsky has signed on to the Giving Pledge to donate the majority of his fortune to philanthropy.

In 2006, Lefkofsky set up the Lefkofsky Family Foundation with his wife. The private charitable foundation seeks to create high-impact programs to improve individual lives in the community. He also serves as a trustee with the Art Institute of Chicago, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Other than his work in the technology industry, Lefkofsky also works as an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan before graduating from the University of Michigan Law School.

His new venture will change the face of data in treating cancer. With the new partnership, Tempus has a chance to use data to make better, more personalized treatment plans.

The WCS Is the Only Foolproof Solution That Prevents Inmates From Using Cell Phones

Inmates who have access to cell phones pose a major problem. Robert Johnson can attest to this. He was a correctional facility officer, and it seems like he was doing his job pretty well. Too well, perhaps, for the inmates in the prison got mad at him and wanted to take him out. He had just confiscated a package of contraband which the inmates believed was worth fifty thousand dollars. An inmate with a cell phone got in touch with a fellow criminal, who broke into his house at half past five one morning and shot Robert Johnson in the chest from just six feet away six times.

The doctors kept saying that he was going to die. The chaplain told his wife to prepare for the worst. However, he did survive. He went through many operations, though, and he still has the scars from that incident.

The inmates had contracted Sean Echols, a former inmate, to do the hit by using a cell phone and a few thousand dollars on a reloadable card. Johnson had twenty three surgeries, but he is still fighting. He is now on a crusade to stop inmates from being able to access cell phones.

In another story, an inmate caused the death of a baby in Georgia in order to retaliate against the baby’s uncle, who did something the inmate did not like. Using a cell phone, he orchestrated a hit on the baby, who got shot and killed while in its mother’s arms. That story shocked the world. In yet another story, a Facebook Live was broadcasted by an inmate while he was in prison. It showed him brandishing a knife. He was using an illegal cell phone.

Securus Technologies developed the Wireless Containment Solution specifically for this purpose. If those prisons would have had the Wireless Containment Solution installed, then the inmates would not have been able to access the network and none of those stories would have happened.

Robert Johnson, who is now a consultant with Securus Technologies, said that he has seen the Wireless Containment Solution in action. He said that it really does work. He thinks that it is the best solution for preventing inmates from using cell phones. Confiscating cell phones will not take care of the problem entirely, he said.

Robert Johnson went to Washington to convince the FCC to make it easier to block cell phone calls. The Wireless Containment Solution does exactly that, and it fits all the guidelines of the FCC. Robert believes that there is no reason it should not be used. If your state is not using the WCS, call them up and tell them to start using it.
