Oxytocin Nasal Spray May Help Treat Obesity

The hormone oxytocin may be used in the form of the nasal spray to treat individuals who are obese. When it has been used for its original purpose as a nasal spray, health workers notice that healthy men consume fewer calories after just one single dose of the nasal spray. This was true no matter if the men were of normal weight or overweight.

This discovery has many individuals feeling excited. It seems like oxytocin may be a promising treatment for metabolic complications and obesity. This nasal spray is approved for use in Europe, but it has not been approved in the United States. It has only been approved in the United States for clinical trials stated Flavio Maluf.

Many individuals are fighting all of the negative health effects that come from being overweight or obese. The negative effects that individuals experience because of obesity are many. This can lead to cardiovascular problems, diabetes, stroke, and many other things. Obesity can lead to a variety of mental health issues, like depression and extremely low self-esteem.

Until more studies are done, the use of oxytocin in the form of a nasal spray to help obesity may not be a viable option for individuals. However, in the meantime, there are lots of things that individuals can do to reduce their weight. The two main things that should be focused on are consuming a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise.
