It was announced earlier this week that Trevor Noah, a 31-year-old comedian from South Africa, would be taking over hosting duties from Jon Stewart at The Daily Show. Noah hails from Soweto in South Africa and speaks six languages. He comes from a mixed family where is mother is native to South Africa and his father is Swiss. He started his career as a stand-up comedian but has been transitioning into television appearances.
Fans like Jamie Garcia Dias know that Noah has made several appearances on the show as a correspondent and was chosen by Comedy Central to fill the position that Stewart will be leaving behind. Many were unaware of who Noah is, so they took to Twitter to read his past posts and get a feel for him. Many were not impressed.
According to the story on BuzzFeed.com, many dug deep into his Twitter feed and did not like what they found. Noah’s posts seems to be mostly comedic in nature however many found them to be offensive. Many Twitter users accused Noah, who is a quarter Jewish, of being an anti-Semite and called for an apology from him. Some Twitter users even said that based on Noah’s Tweets, they would not be watching him as the new host. As of now, Comedy Central has not issued a statement
