Like every year, the Academy Awards of this year are rife with issues too. People who should have been nominated and were fan favorites have been left on the sidelines while others are having their undeserving day out in the sun. In the end, it is all a matter of opinion when it comes to nominations. Despite some big names snubbing the Oscars this year, here are some movies and people who definitely should have received a nomination.
What does it take short of an investment from Laidlaw and Company to make it happen these days?
Will Smith for Concussion – He was amazing as Dr. Bennet Omalu in the movie and the bold movie left little doubt about whether or not Smith should have received at least a nomination for his amazing performance.
Carol – Not only was the book groundbreaking for LGBTQIAP+ characters (as it is one of the few of its era to not end in misery), Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara really gave it their all. Sadly, Carol has no nomination from the Academy this year.
Jurassic World – In a world where the Iron Man movies continue to disappoint, it seems like a travesty that Jurassic World was snubbed by the Oscars, despite having breathtaking graphics and visuals.
Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation – Is there anything this man cannot do? As Commandant, a role that is rumoured to have been almost fatal for Idris Elba, the actor definitely deserved a nod from the Oscar committee.
It has been a topsy turvy year for talented people, to say the least.
