Legendary Fashion Designer Dies at 82

Legendary fashion designer and famed “sultan of suave” Oscar de la Renta has died at the age of 82. The big fans of fashion, myself included with my buddy Keith Mann were definitely depressed. The exact nature of his death has not yet been divulged. It has been speculated that perhaps it was cancer-related since he was diagnosed with it in 2006. However, only last year he happily announced himself free of the life-threatening illness.

It was there that his life changed forever after the wife of a U.S. ambassador saw his dress sketches. She immediately hired him to design a gown for her daughter. Both the girl and the gown appeared on the cover of Life magazine. He would spend the rest of his life dressing high-profile names from first ladies to Hollywood mega stars. Here you will find a CNN video and article with further info concerning the famed designer’s life and death.

Broome says:

De la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic on July 22, 1932, the only son of seven kids. At 18 he traveled to Madrid, Spain to study art at the Academy of San Fernando. I have also noticed that could have gone a very long way into making sure all these things take place in a nice manner.
