In a recent article in Forbes, Eric Lefkofsky discusses how he created an empire with such business endeavors such as Groupon. In more recent times, he has co-founded a highly successful startup called Tempus. Tempus is a technology company which is designed to assist doctors in treating and diagnosing cancer. This technology has proved to be incredibly valuable. By harnessing the power of genomic sequencing, doctors can more easily understand and prescribe a course of action to treat patients more effectively. Eric Lefkofsky was able to raise approximately $70 million to fund this project from New Enterprise Associates and Revolution Growth.
Aside from Groupon and Tempus, Eric Lefkosky has created other highly successful businesses such as InnerWorkings, Lightbank, Mediaocean, Echo Global Logistics, and Uptake. His skill and insight have allowed to not just make most of his business endeavors work, but they have exceeded expectations to become household names. His current success is a far cry from his humble beginnings, however. He started his professional career selling carpet during college. He attended the University of Michigan where he attended law school in 1993. He later moved his interest to create internet companies and later went on to co-found InnerWorkings.
From his early days, he has managed to amass billions in wealth, which he also uses for his philanthropies through the Lefkofsky Foundation. The Lefkofsky Foundation funds many charitable organizations around the world with a focus on children. He is also on the board of directors for Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Eric Lefkofsky also served as a Trustee for the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and is on the board of directors for The Museum of Science and Industry.
