Online Reputation Becoming More Important Than Ever For Companies

The online reputation is becoming increasingly important for companies and small businesses. A recent survey done by the World Economic Forum found that about a quarter of a company’s value is based solely on its reputation and perception by the public. Another study done by Deloitte and Forbes, which highlights the vulnerability of company reputations found that most firms are unprepared and under budgeted for protecting their reputations, especially on the web.

With almost half of the world’s population currently using the web, and the internet becoming more prominent for all businesses, you would think that companies would take their online reputations more seriously. After all, their reputation correlates directly to their value. One thing that is particularly lacking in most businesses today is the management of customer reviews and the response to negative reviews on review sites such as Yelp, Angies List and Apartment Finder.

Status Labs, founded in 2011, is a firm that addresses the growing importance of online reputation and digital marketing in today’s online world. The company was founded by former political consultant and copy writer Darius Fisher. Building on his previous work experience, Fisher has created a strategy that allows firms to create positive media attention and press releases to bolster the reputation of a firm.

Status Labs has offices in Austin, Texas, New York City, New York and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company serves a global customer base with clients in over 35 countries who speak a multitude of different languages. In addition to creating highly effective public relations campaigns on the web, Status Labs offers its customers reputation management. The media can hammer individuals, especially those who are highly visible for a company, political party or organization. This could have negative consequences and really damage an individual’s and firm’s reputation. Crisis management uses a PR campaign and search engine re-engineering to remove negative publicity from ranking at the very top of search engine results. While it is very difficult to remove something from the internet when it is gone, crisis management can help lessen the impact and bring attention to the positive aspect of a candidate and help explain the other side to the story which the media may feed.
