Doe Deere: Immigrant Entrepreneur

Doe Deere is the founder of the successful online cosmetic company, Lime Crime. But success did not come easy to her. Doe shared her success story with Entrepeneur Magazine in September 2018.

Xenia Vorotova was born in Russia and came to New York city at age 17 with her mother and younger sister. With difficulty finding a job, her mother and sister had to take refuge in homeless shelters on way too many nights.

A social worker led them to Sanctuary For Families, a non profit group that aids immigrants- mostly women and children. The group helps immigrants who are having a hard time financially and emotionally in their new chosen country, the United States. The leader of Sanctuary is a woman named Dorchen Leidholdt. Leidholdt is an attorney, feminist and devoted to helping others. Leidholdt saw the potential in the Vorotova family and helped Doe’s mother get work as an accountant, her occupation in Russia. She helped Doe and her sister enroll in school and make it on to university.

Finally, Doe and her family were settling in to America. Doe went on attend to the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her sister went on to Columbia University on a full scholarship.

Doe Deere is the moniker she gave herself when she founded her makeup company in 2008. Now in business for ten years, Doe is grateful for the help she received. She is very proud of her family and success. Her Lime Crime all natural beauty line is as remarkable as her coming to America story. Lime Crime features bright and daring colored lipsticks and eye shadows and other products for women not afraid to be bold and beautiful.

Doe is a genuine entrepreneur and her online cosmetic business thrives. Her story is as inspiring as her makeup line.

Fabletics and Don Ressler Join the War against Breast Cancer

Although Kate Hudson is best known for her acting role in “Almost Famous,” she is also the Co-founder of Fabletics, an American online retailer that sells women’s leisurewear. Recently, Kate Hudson, along with Fabletics, partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers America, a nonprofit trade association, to help promote breast cancer awareness. Kate Hudson, along with her Fabletics business partners, Adam Goldenberg and Don Ressler, were participants in this year’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) charity campaign, which was aimed at uniting the fashion world in the fight against breast cancer.

Considering that more than 200,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, it’s no surprise that Kate Hudson and Fabletics, a company that prides themselves on empowering women through fashion, agreed to rally support around Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. For their role in the charity campaign, Fabletics unveiled a stunning blue and pink capsule collection (most essential or influential pieces from a collection) for the fashion gala, which was held in the Del Amo Fashion Centre mall located in Torrance, California, with all of the proceeds going to FTBC. In an effort to contribute even further, Fabletics have announced plans to make the same capsule collection available on their website,, and their brick and mortar locations, for those who were unable to attend the event.

The charity campaign at Del Amo Fashion Centre mall marks the second collaboration between Fabletics and FTBC. In an interview with, an online independent news site, Hudson reportedly expressed an interest in continuing to play a role in these charity events, that spur cancer awareness; so, it’s probably safe to say Fabletics will be front and center for any future events.

If you’re curious about Fabletics, it was founded in 2013, through the collective efforts of Don Ressler, Adam Goldenberg, and Kate Hudson, and is marketed as a fashion-forward athleisure brand. The business model was the brainchild of Ressler and Goldberg, who approached Hudson with the intent of forging a business partnership that would revolutionize how apparel would be marketed to women. Obviously, Kate Hudson was impressed with the business plan and went into business with Ressler and Goldberg, to form Fabletics.

Granted, Huson is the face of Fabletics, but she also plays an integral role in the company; she routinely analyzes inventory and sales figures and has been instrumental in helping the company reach $250 million in sales, for the 2017 calendar year.

Makeup For All The Fellow Unicorns Out There!

Lime Crime was founded by Doe Deere with the intention of creating fabulous makeup for men and women that want to express themselves as they please. They have a very unique line of makeup which is certified vegan and cruelty free! They are also produced right here in Los Angeles, California; it’s always great to support a local American-Made product. Their products include lipstick, hair coloring, eye shadow, hi-lite’s, nails and makeup brushes.

Some of Lime Crime’s newest products are revolutionary and unique. They have a collection called the “Utopia Bundle” which includes liquid matte lipstick in a variety of rose inspired colors. I highly doubt these colors will be found anywhere else and look fabulous on a variety of skin colors.

There is another set of lipstick called the Velvetine’s which are also rose inspired colors. They are a liquid matte lipstick that stays on for long periods of time and keeps their beautiful color without smudging off onto things. My personal favorite is New Americana which is a bright beautiful red.

These matte lipsticks they produce will not dry out your lips; they will feel like velvety rose petals all day long. You can eat with this lipstick courageously knowing that it will not smear off onto your cup and silverware.

Another lipstick I have to mention is the Kitty Bungalow Meow Bundle, which is a set of two liquid lipsticks. These are not matte, they are extremely glittery and sheer in their appearance. It’s a phenomenal lipstick for someone looking for a softer but glistening color on their lips.

Lime Crime has created a line of fantasy semi-permanent hair color that you won’t find anywhere else. You can choose from a variety of unicorn-esque colors ranging from “gargoyle” blue-black, “blue-smoke” which is deep blue, “bunny” a very Easter looking pink, to “Lee-Loo” which is a striking orange-red; it personally reminds me of an Arizona sunset.

There is so much more on their website than I can list in this article. Their website is user-friendly and they are very green-conscious. You will definitely find something at their online store that will inspire or add onto your own self-expression.

Advice For All Working Women From Susan McGalla

PR Newswire first ran this report from Susan McGalla featuring advice for working women of today. The working woman has changed so many times over the years that many women are not sure what they should focus on in today’s world. The three areas that McGalla says women should focus on will help them make their career and family life most exciting.

Stay Educated

Women often give up their education to help their families, but there are so many ways for women to educated in today’s world. Women can go to school online, and they can easily get the education that they could not get before. Women should focus on their education to make sure that they have the degree that is going to help them get the job they want long after the kids move out of the house.

Ignore That Glass Ceiling

The glass ceiling is something that women have dealt with for years, but these sentiments are much more rare than they used to be. Women can simply ignore the glass ceiling as they ask for promotions, ask for raises and ask for more responsibilities at work. Women who take these steps are going to be pleased that they took the initiative for themselves.

Remain Confident

It is a fact that confident people are given more in life, and women need to make sure that they carry themselves with confidence everywhere they go. A woman who is not carrying herself well will have less opportunities than a woman who struts everywhere she goes. That every sheen of confidence can change a woman’s life for the better.

When women want to make the most of their careers and family lives, they must make sure that they are following these three steps to be better off in the working world.
