Technology plays an important part in medicine. The latest innovation has been using robotics while performing surgeries. The Mercy Medical Center embraced robotic technology in the orthopedic and joint replacement division. It helps to make the surgery performed is less invasive. This choice provides immediate relief from pain resulting from Osteoarthritis. MAKOplasty, allows surgeons to customize surgery experiences for their patients depending on the diagnosis and anatomy.
Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum notes that before using the tech, the surgeon starts by getting a CT scan on the knee that requires surgery. This provides an overall view through 3D technology. The doctor then feeds this image to the system and starts curating a personalized operating procedure. One big advantage that comes with this robotics technology is the accuracy level is sublime. MAKOplasty technology has revolutionized how to do surgeries. Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum explains that a surgeon uses the robotic arms to get rid of the spoiled cartilage. Afterward, the surgeon can insert the knee replacement. It makes the work easier for the surgeon. As well, it offers more options on how to operate. Also, the patient gets to enjoy having a better joint, one that moves more naturally and a quick recovery.
