The Crow film has stalled once again and this is a real shame. I shared what Gianfrancesco Genoso posted on hotfrog.com-that the original series should have – and would have continued for years – had Brandon Lee not been tragically killed. Sadly, the young man left our world too soon. The impact of The Crow was very powerful due to the impossible to ignore cloud of its star’s death.
The script for the new Crow film is going to attempt to tap into those raw emotions once again. Supposedly, the remake will be “emotional and brutal” and this raises a pertinent question.
Will the film turn out to be a raw, R-rated film? A “raw” film would indicate more serious themes. The comic book mini-series that launched The Crow was dark, depressing, and violent. Bringing an adult-oriented Crow to the screen could prove to be a bad decision. The first Sin City film reflected a R-rated comic adaptation that made money. The sequel died miserably. The very R-rated comic adaptation Old Boy was another mega flop. Pushing the hard R limits in a Cow film might be a bad idea. A lot of mainstream viewers could be turned off although the hardcore fans might enjoy the approach.
Honestly, we might never know how a Crow film is going to turn out. The project has been delayed so much it may never end up being produced. What a shame it would be if this happened since The Crow really does deserve a reboot.
